Mudita Foundation ("we", "us", or "our") operates the ScholarBridge platform at muditafoundation.org and the ScholarBridge app. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.

By using ScholarBridge, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you:

• Create a sponsor account (name, email address, payment details via Stripe)
• Apply to volunteer (name, email, availability, and relevant background)
• Contact us by email

We also collect limited usage data automatically, including pages visited and device type, to improve the platform. We use Cloudflare Analytics for this purpose — it does not use cookies or track individuals across sites.

2. Student Privacy

Protecting the privacy of students in Nepal is a core principle of ScholarBridge. We apply strict anonymisation:

• Students are identified to sponsors by a reference code, not their full name or photo.
• Schools and field coordinators manage student records; sponsors never have direct access to personally identifiable student information beyond what the student or school has expressly consented to share.
• Annual marksheets shared with sponsors are reviewed to remove identifying information before being sent.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process and manage monthly sponsorship payments through Stripe
• Match sponsors with students in their chosen province or district
• Send annual progress updates about your sponsored scholar
• Respond to volunteer applications and coordinate volunteer activities
• Improve the ScholarBridge platform and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Payment Data

All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card number or banking details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to all payment transactions: stripe.com/privacy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with:

• Stripe — for payment processing
• Cloudflare — for hosting and anonymised analytics
• Field partners in Nepal — only the information necessary to coordinate sponsorships and verify progress

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you cancel your sponsorship, we will retain records for a minimum of 7 years for financial compliance purposes, after which your personal details will be deleted or anonymised.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability

8. Cookies

ScholarBridge does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare Analytics is cookie-free. The ScholarBridge app may use a session cookie strictly necessary for keeping you logged in — it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe and subject to their PCI DSS compliance.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify active sponsors by email of any material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
